Internships & Clinical Training
Limora’s Clinical Internship Program
Develop your clinical skills, explore the work behind a therapy practice, and contribute to making mental health care more accessible.
At Limora, learning includes opportunities to ask questions, practice new skills, reflect on your experiences, and receive support as you develop your professional identity.
Clinical learning with purpose.
Limora PLLC is a telehealth therapy practice committed to compassionate, affordable mental health care and the development of skilled, ethical, trauma-informed clinicians.
Our internship program connects supervised clinical experience with practical learning about the responsibilities of providing care. Interns also explore the operations, decisions, and expenses involved in maintaining a private practice.
Learning activities are planned around the student’s educational requirements, experience, readiness, and approved scope, together with client needs and available opportunities.
What you can learn and practice.
Client Care & Clinical Skills
Develop skills in engagement, reflective listening, assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions through supervised learning and practice.
Clinical opportunities may include individual, couples, family, and group work, depending on client availability, training, and placement approval.
Documentation & Care Planning
Learn how intake information, biopsychosocial assessments, treatment goals, progress notes, referrals, and discharge planning connect throughout the course of care.
Build familiarity with Sessions Health and the role of timely, accurate documentation in clinical practice.
Ethics & Telehealth Practice
Explore informed consent, confidentiality, professional boundaries, cultural responsiveness, and ethical decision-making.
Learn telehealth procedures, privacy expectations, location verification, safety planning, and when to seek supervisory consultation.
Group Development
Explore how a clinical group moves from an idea to a structured offering: identifying needs, selecting a curriculum, defining goals, planning sessions, and considering participant fit.
Facilitation opportunities depend on program readiness, enrollment, and supervisory approval.
Private Practice Operations
Gain insight into the work behind client sessions, including scheduling, intake workflows, practice policies, technology, fees, and operating expenses.
Discuss the practical considerations involved in building and sustaining an accessible therapy practice.
Outreach & Professional Development
Learn about ethical marketing, professional bios, referral relationships, community resources, and communicating clearly about services.
Use supervision and reflection to identify learning goals, recognize strengths, and build confidence in your developing role.
Support throughout your placement
Supervision, reflection & connection.
April McElhenny, MSW, LCSW, Limora’s founder, clinical director, and supervisor, leads the clinical internship program.
Interns participate in weekly group supervision, with individual support and case consultation as needed. Supervision provides space to discuss clinical questions, consider ethical concerns, practice skills, and reflect on professional growth.
Before providing client care, interns complete required onboarding and preparation activities and receive approval to begin assigned services. Specific supervision arrangements must meet applicable university and practice requirements.
Is Limora a good fit for your placement?
We welcome inquiries from graduate students seeking a clinical placement, including students in social work and counseling programs. Acceptance depends on whether Limora can meet the requirements of the individual student’s program and placement.
Applicants should be prepared to participate actively in supervision, communicate consistently, complete assigned work, and approach feedback with openness and curiosity. A private workspace and reliable technology are important for remote participation.
Remote placements and client assignments require review of the student’s physical location, the client’s location, applicable practice requirements, and university approval. A remote placement does not automatically permit work with clients in every state.
Connected missions
Our connection with Change Creators Foundation.
Limora PLLC and Change Creators Foundation are separate organizations founded by April McElhenny. Their shared commitment is to reduce barriers to healing, growth, support, and connection.
Limora offers a clinical placement focused on therapy and private practice learning. Change Creators Foundation offers nonclinical opportunities involving community support, program development, outreach, resource access, fundraising, and nonprofit operations.
Students interested in either organization can ask about placement fit. Any experience involving both organizations must be specifically arranged and approved by the university and organizations.

Common questions.
Do I need previous therapy experience?
Previous clinical experience is discussed as part of the application process. Learning activities and client assignments are based on demonstrated readiness, training, and supervision needs.
Will I have a full caseload immediately?
Client assignments depend on referrals, availability, clinical fit, and readiness. An immediate or specific caseload cannot be guaranteed.
While preparing for client work, interns may participate in orientation, skills practice, documentation exercises, outreach planning, and group development. Activities must align with university requirements.
Can Limora meet my school’s hour requirements?
We review required total hours, direct service hours, supervision, placement dates, and other university expectations before confirming a placement.
Applicants should provide their program’s requirements early so we can discuss feasibility. Submitting an application does not guarantee that all requirements can be met.
Are there expenses associated with the placement?
Applicants should ask about any placement-related expenses and what the university or practice provides. Required and optional expenses should be clarified before accepting a placement.
Does applying guarantee an internship?
No. Applications are reviewed for availability, educational fit, supervision capacity, and applicable requirements. A placement is confirmed only after an offer and completion of required approvals.
